The year is 1958, and the much-adored rock-and-roll idol -- Conrad Birdie -- has been drafted into the US army. His songwriter and agent, Albert, and Albert’s secretary and lover, Rosie, hatch a plan for a farewell performance to take place on the Ed Sullivan show, which they hope will help sell Birdie’s new song “One Last Kiss”, and ultimately save Almaelou records from going under. |
This year's fall musical is the comedic (and very satirical) Bye Bye Birdie, a show about the mayhem induced when a national rock-and-roll sensation is drafted into the army. The show is being Co-Directed by Susan Donahue and Jamie Hegstad, with Assistant Directors Caleb Pierce and Delaney Morgan. Katie Jansen returns as Music Director, and Teresa Jansen as Choreographer. Alex Wallis and Madeline Cooper star as the principal leads (Albert Peterson and Rose Alvarez). The rest of the cast can be found here.
Bye Bye Birdie opens at R.A. Long on November 13, with performances on Nov 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7:30 p.m., and a Nov 22 matinee at 3 p.m.
