"The Good Doctor" Opens This Weekend!

5/4/2016

A combination of Neil Simon and Chekhov, The Good Doctor, a comedy with music, is, by turns, charming, hilarious, sad, and touching. It centers around a writer, who speaks to the audience and shares his writing with them, throughout one day. He presents them with a plethora of scenes: some are from his childhood, others are his family and friends, and still others are his own life experiences. The audience meets a variety of characters, all of whom are immediately relatable and strikingly human.

Our spring show, The Good Doctor, opens this weekend! The show is a collection of scenes written by Neil Simon, based on the work of Anton Chekhov. A comedy (for the most part), it is set in Russia, at the turn of the 20th century.

The show is directed by Susan Donahue, with assistant directors Cece Elkinton and Ashley Arledge. Aaron Perkins takes the lead, portraying a writer who shares the fanciful worlds of his pen with the audience through the show's assortment of scenes. The rest of the cast, who compose the characters of the his stories, can be found here.

The show opens May 6, with performances on May 6, 7, 13, 14 at 7:30pm, and a matinee on May 14 at 2:00pm. Tickets will be $5, with VIP tickets (which include choice seating and dessert provided) available for $10.
